ostrich
It may not be universally know that the ostrich
is the biggest bird still living on earth nowadays:
it may get up to 3 meters of height and 100
kgs of weigh.
When it runs, it's faster than a horse, and with a single step it can take
up to 8 meters .

Males are black
with white tails, females have gray feathers and
dark white tails, while cubs have streaked feathers. |

It mainly eats vegetables, but it's used to
swallows any object, like stones, fragments
of pottery and small irons, and from this habit
comes the Italian idiom: "to have a stomach
like an ostrich's" (to have a cast-iron stomach)

egg is very big and can weight up to 1,5 kg,
equal to an omelet for 15 people. |
